The Lawless Axe was born from a need that Tom saw when training for the roof. Our striking tool of choice was a flat head axe, or a pick head. The benefit of a pick is being able to pike the roof for a foot hold, or just to be able to keep the tool in place. The fallback is the fact that a cutting edge wedges, causing slower less effective work. The flat head gave the benefit of a flat crushing surface. the back of the flat head won't wedge creating a more efficient cut, but still got stuck easily due to overstrike. To solve this issue, Tom created a bearded Axe for the fire service.

Firefighters of course keep side jobs and hobbies, and lucky for us, one of Toms hobbies is blacksmithing. He hand forged the first 4 prototypes, and had a little input and help from myself with the 5th forged prototype. We knew we couldn't make these in the back yard forge. I Learned cad and created a design to match and out preform our prior prototypes. We had a lot of discouragement once we started trying to find a manufacturer, then we went to FDIC 2022 where we met Ajax. Between our 5th prototype and 6th CNCd prototype there were probably 20 3D prints with slight improvements every time.

The 6th prototype preformed even better than we could have imagined, and we moved forward with production. The first small forged batch from AJAX came out perfect as well, and we are taking pre orders for the second forged batch!
